I visited the decorative arts section on the first floor as part of my Museum mapping project!I found the design of this furniture piece attractive. I really like the rounded corner of the desk, chair and the semi-circle side bins. According to the label the plywood piece was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
In my additional online research that I found here, I learned:
1. The Desk and Chair was made for the S.C. Johnson and Son Administration Building.
2. America was rapidly industrializing and the chairs design reflects the streamlined and shiny lamented surfaces.
3. The chairs were designed in 1936/39, before the start of WWII.
Can you picture this desk in your house? Would it go with everything you have. Even if it did not, what would your ideal desk look like? Have you seen these chairs in the collection? You might like them if you liked this one? Enjoy...post more!

Yes I can picture this desk in my house. It looks very safe with the rounded corners, like it could belong in a preschool. The European Decorative Arts section is my favorite section of the museum, I want everything there to furnish my house, if it was possible... :)
